A Thousand Ways to Pray

"Little raptures have the power to melt frustrations, refresh your body and mind and lift you over the threshold of "flat reality." Simple practices like yoga, dance and even muscle work can supply this rapture. Dance-movement celebrates the spirit and quiets a worrying mind. Yoga teaches the power of stillness and helps rebalance the body. Strength work solidifies not only muscle and bone, but also a sense of self. These, of course, aren't the only ways in through the gates. Meditation, chanting, singing, love-making and many other activities inspire bliss. There are, as some say, a thousand ways to pray..."
- Karen Andes, A Woman's Book of Balance
