WATERCOLOR LANDSCAPES with Kelly Hughes
Learn compositional principles, texturing techniques, and color choices helpful in creating luminous landscape paintings. This class is open to adult watercolorists at any stage of practice. Open Window Studio artist Kelly Hughes offers guidance and encouragement as you explore the beauty of this fluid medium.
Recommended Synthetic /Sable brushes: 1” flat/wash, # 8 round, #4 round, small rigger, and small fan
Aureolin, Cadmium Scarlet and Winsor/Antwerp Blue, (preferably Winsor & Newton tubes)
Optional additional colors: Winsor Lemon, Winsor Red, Cobalt Blue, Brown Madder, French Ultramarine, Cerulean Blue, Payne’s Grey
Butcher tray or comparable palette
Arches 140 lb. or 300 lb. cold press paper, 2 - 11x15” pieces per student
Water jar, tissues, small spray bottle, masking solution, rubber pick-up square, art gum eraser
