Away We Go

This gallery show business is tough work! I've been planning and preparing things like mailing lists, artist statements, publicity images, websites, newsletters, framing and printing to promote not one but two upcoming shows!

FIRST:
The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri will exhibit “Caterpillars With Character” through the month of August in Gallery 100. You are invited to attend the opening reception August 7th, 5-9 pm to meet artist Kelly Hughes.
In March 2007, my illustrations of larval Lepidoptera made their debut at the Conservation Nature Center in Cape Girardeau. Since then, this exhibit has been touring visitor centers and MDC nature centers, serving as an interpretive tool for public programs. These “Caterpillars with Character” are representative of twenty moth and butterfly species found in Missouri, a choice collection of the “flashiest characters” from each family. These illustrations are rendered in colored pencil, ink, charcoal and pastel pencil.

SECOND:
Opening Reception First Friday, Sept. 4th, 5-9 pm at the Black Door Gallery on Spanish Street in Cape Girardeau. On exhibit will be a collection of Kelly’s original and more personal work in a show entitled “Quickening.”

I hope to see you there!

I'll post a new collection of ramblings once we return from Keuka Lake...yeehaw!

Looks like the post option is working, so I expect everyone to say "HEY" when they stop in! ;)
