"Living OFF the map"

Art is like a journal, a "record in form" of meaningful moments of life. Art is a one of many languages, many forms of communication, and in it there must be structure as well as substance, form married to a concept, with great skill and intuition required. If my personal mission is to record experiences in the language of art as I grow and learn and take part in life, I must "live OFF the map." Wanting to know the route I will take, or even the destination in advance, is living ON the map. Living with imaginary boundaries is living ON the map. There is a good deal of faith involved in drawing from intuition and inspiration.
